DC fans have reason to celebrate as James Gunn, director of Superman, has confirmed that a sequel to the newly rebooted film is already moving forward.
In a recent interview with Collider, Gunn revealed that he
has finished the treatment for the follow-up project and that pre-production
planning is currently underway. “We’re scheduling it now,” the director shared,
sparking excitement among audiences eager to see what’s next for the Man of
Steel.
Gunn explained that his writing process goes far beyond
traditional outlines. “I’m totally done with the treatment. My treatments are
incredibly intense. They’re not regular treatments. They’re 60-page treatments
with dialogue and everything,” he said. “Now I’m just turning that into a
script. We’re planning out when we’re going to shoot that. It’s going to be
much sooner rather than later.”
Although Gunn has confirmed that David Corenswet will
reprise his role as Superman, he has kept details vague about whether the film
will serve as a direct sequel or explore a fresh storyline within the DC
Universe. His carefully worded responses suggest that fans may see new elements
that push the boundaries of traditional Superman narratives.
The announcement comes at a time when DC Studios is
preparing for a slate of highly anticipated projects. These include Peacemaker
Season 2, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, the Lanterns TV series, a potential
Wonder Woman revival, and a mysterious project centered on Clayface.
During his Superman press tour, Gunn also spoke to CBS
Mornings, emphasizing that every upcoming DC project will be unique in tone and
storytelling approach. “Each story will have its own distinct style, just like
the original comics,” he explained.
With Gunn’s proven track record of blending humor, heart,
and action into superhero films, fans are eagerly waiting to see how the
Superman sequel shapes the future of the DC Universe.
One thing is certain: the Man of Steel’s journey is far from
over, and James Gunn is ensuring that the next chapter will arrive sooner than
expected.
