Superman Hits Digital Platforms Before Peacemaker Season Two

 

Superman fans have a reason to celebrate as James Gunn, the producer of the blockbuster film, has officially confirmed that the movie is now available to stream early on popular digital platforms.

Viewers can watch the hit DC film on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home, just a month after its theatrical premiere.

Speaking to ScreenRant, Gunn explained that the decision was intentional, allowing fans to enjoy the film before the release of Peacemaker Season 2, which is set to debut on August 21 on HBO Max. The highly anticipated series, starring John Cena, is the next installment in Gunn’s newly launched DC Universe, directly following the events of Superman.

According to Gunn, the storyline of Superman seamlessly connects with Peacemaker, making the timing of the release significant. Season 2 is expected to feature exciting appearances from characters like Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion) and Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), adding to the anticipation.

Despite its early arrival on streaming platforms, Superman has already proven to be a massive success in theaters. The film has grossed $334 million domestically and is approaching $600 million worldwide. Impressively, it continues to perform strongly, bringing in $7 million in its fifth weekend.

While some fans expressed disappointment over the shortened theatrical window, Gunn acknowledged the concern. He admitted he personally enjoys longer box office runs but emphasized that the decision was made to support the momentum of Peacemaker.

 “I wanted everyone to be able to see Superman, even those who couldn’t make it to theaters before Peacemaker,” Gunn explained.

With its dual release strategy, Warner Bros. and DC Studios aim to strike a balance between streaming growth and theatrical success. Superman will remain available in theaters while also expanding its reach to home audiences.

This move not only strengthens the connection between Superman and Peacemaker but also ensures that fans worldwide can stay caught up with DC’s evolving cinematic universe.
